Octonus is launching a new diamond education platform — a place where everyone, from newcomers to experienced industry professionals, can learn how to explain, compare, and present diamonds in a clearer and more visual way.

The platform is being developed as part of the Diamond Performance and Beauty Course, a new educational program focused on modern communication tools for the diamond industry.

It supports professionals across manufacturing, trading, retail, and consumer communication by combining visual demonstration, performance metrics, and the "Seeing is Believing" approach. Carat weight is the first thing nearly every buyer checks — and one of the most overlooked gaps in the diamond trade. Two diamonds of identical carat weight can look more than 30% different in size to the naked eye. One commands the room. The other quietly underdelivers. Same weight. Same price bracket. Very different presence on the finger.

The Spread (Apparent Size) score helps close this gap. It shows how large a diamond appears visually and makes it possible to compare diamonds more accurately — across different weights, shapes, and proportions.

For sellers, it turns a hard-to-explain strength into a clear selling point — a way to set a diamond apart from identically-weighted competitors. Putting a number on the real merits of a cut makes the market more transparent, and for a product this small and this valuable, that transparency is what builds trust on both sides of the deal.
