Firescope simulation

We have advanced Firescope simulation in the DiamCalc 1.7.4. In the previous versions white light from above the pavilion was simulated as a usual white source.

We have found now that this lighting is more specific. In fact, there are three factors:

  1. A cone hole in the plate where the diamond is placed has a mat surface and produces diffuse light.
  2. The light from below partially passes through the surface and goes into the pavilion.
  3. The bottom of hole usually is not ideal and produces additional irregularity in the lighting.

In our new model we just simulated (1) as a uniform diffuse light into pavilion. As a result of this improvement produced images become more proper. We are not going to continue with firescope simulation improvements as we see no need for this. Nevertheless we appreciate if you point us where it works bad.

The picture below shows the difference in the old and new models: in the old model the rays like A, B, C coming from pavilion do not correspond with a source. Only the rays of type D lights the pavilion. In the new model all of these rays correspond to the source (1).
